About

Mary Brennan (1855 – 1928) (married name Keane) was John’s Grandmother. We believe she was a concertina player and she grew up on Scattery Island. You can read more about John’s time on Scattery Island here.

Number 55 in book. From Ceol Rince na hÉireann: Breandán Breathnach got this tune from John Kelly Senior. “Óna máthair fuair an Ceallach iad seo; óna mathair fuair sise iad. Ba uathu a hainmníodh iad.” “John Kelly senior got these tunes from his mother, who got them from her mother. They named the tunes.”
