John Kelly Senior had a brother named Patrick that is listed in the 1911 census as being 2 months old. Link. We believe he died at around 3 years of age of meningitis and that this tune is most likely named after him.
Marianne, John’s daughter, remembers her father often talking about his brother Paddy that died. John was born in 1912 so was just one year younger than his brother.
