The sleeve notes from “John Kelly Fiddle & Concertina Player”, Topic Records, 1974 state: “and the second is a variant of it, a local reel played by Charlie Simmonds and Mrs Crotty, amoung others. Here John plays it n an pld double-reed German cocertina. Spike island is situated in Cork Harbour.”
