John got this tune from the concertina playing of Mary Houlihan. John plays this tune on the Comhaltas Ceoltóirí “Seoda Ceoil” from 1968 and in Treoir magazine from June/July 1968 it states: “…he plays a fine setting of the ” Bean Tinceara” which he got from a great concertina player named Mary Houlihan.” Link.
