Rocking the Baby to Sleep

Name

Rocking the Baby to Sleep (Air)

About

Sleeve notes from “John Kelly Fiddle & Concertina” album, Topic Records, 1974 state: “A great piece among fiddlers of the last century, met within all the old manuscripts from Munster. Not to be confused with the celebrated Rocking with the Cradle (O’Neill’s Music of Ireland No. 547) which gave rise to the cowboy song Git Along, little dogies.”

James believes that his father got this tune from the fiddle player from Donegal John Doherty. James remembers Doherty singing and also playing the tune.
